It's a boy! I was so excited to receive the cutest invitation to the baby shower of my friends Lacy and Edd. When I called to RSVP I was moved to ask if I could offer my event styling services as my gift to the expecting couple. The host enthusiastically accepted my offer, but politely informed me of the limited budget. I assured her that I understood as I had to be mindful of my own bottom line.
When I style an event I love to use fresh flowers, real china and the nicest accossories the budget allows. My challenge was to style the shower to reflect my style while being sensitive to not break the bank. I decided to use all of the elements I like to use and combine them with the things that come to mind when we think of babies and baby showers. I created whimsical centerpieces using white gift bags that I customized with handstenciled letters, white tissue paper with silvery gray polka dots, and lucite pacifiers tied on with silvery gray ribbon. If I had paid an artist to customize the bags, the cost would have blown the budget. I added silver and white balloons for a little child like wonder. The same elements adorned the venue's mantle. I used plush stuffed animals, books, cute elephant baby blankets, blue and white hydrangeas and baby's breath in pale blue mercury glass. I styled a cupcake and candy bar with the most adorable baby faced cupcakes, silver and white candy and italian wedding cookies.
The decor received rave reveiws and the smile on the Mom to Be's face was priceless. For more pictures from my Baby Boy Blue Baby Shower go to my events gallery.
